Elijah is a natural at conjuring and mana manipulation, though he originally lacked control over his abilities, his capabilities were shown to be recognized by his mentor Rahdeas who was known to be a powerful earth mage. As further testament to his abilities, Elijah was appointed to the rank of B-Rank Adventurer by Rahdeas without having to take the rank examination, despite only being at the Dark-Red Stage. He was even strong enough to reach the Dark Orange stage of his mana core in only two years and later the Light Orange stage in less than a year. As a Conjurer Elijah is shown to carry a wand but he is at a high enough level to use soundless chanting.
Conjurer: Elijah is a Conjurer mage, someone who supplements their own mana core with mana from the outside world, to exert mana into their surroundings in the form of spells. While his capabilities were at first a mystery due to skipping the rank examination for Adventurers, his capabilities as a conjurer are to the point that he can conjure spells without the need of chanting and incantations, though he does this out of habit.
Earth Elemental: As a Dark Orange, later light Orange Mage, Elijah has a single specialization in earth magic. Elijah is shown to be abnormally proficient at manipulating earth and has developed much faster as a result of his natural ability. While most other conjurers and augmenters alike must make do with the earth that was accessible to them, Elijah could change the structure of molecules of solids that are not earth into earth and manipulate that. His limitation is that he is unable to conjure earth spells out of water or air. When normal earth conjurers used the petrification spell, it was actually just using the surrounding earth to form around the target, "petrifying" him. Elijah, on the other hand, if he became adept enough, could literally change a human into stone.
- Stone Serpent's Grasp: Elijah conjures two large tendril like pillars of earth to hold whatever he desires in place. Their tendril appearance resembles a serpent. This was used to hold in place the Cavern Worm from the Dire Tombs.
- To conjure the spell, Elijah chants: "Rise thy tendrils of rock, and bind the earth into one..."
- Crater: Elijah causes a tremor beneath himself to create a large crater.
- To conjure the spell, Elijah chants: "Tremble and split thy mother earth, and bury my foes..."
- Earth's Pulse: Elijah uses a sonar to scan the ground for signs of approaching enemies to hear and distinguish the number of footsteps, to scan not only the surface of the floor but the ground beneath it to detect the steady heartbeat of an unconscious person. The spell however can only work above ground as Elijah was unable to use it while he was under the rubble from the cave in from the Dire Tombs.
- To conjure the spell Elijah chants: "Within the rock, within the soil, search for all that is lost within your never ending embrace..."
- Earthen Shield: Elijah conjures a flat wall of earth from the ground, angling it to deflect attacks that are coming at him. It can also be used to catch allies that are mid-air. The shield takes a good amount of mental energy as well as mana to maintain. When Elijah used this spell to defend himself and his allies from the Elderwood Guardian, Elijah began to bleed from the nose when the S-Class mana beast nearly penetrated the shield.
- To conjure the spell, Elijah chants: "Shield thy allies in an unbreakable fortress..."
- Earthen Spear: Elijah can use Earthen Spear to make thick rock spikes shoot out from the ground a couple meters in front of him.
- Stone Barrage: Elijah can use Stone Barrage to dislodge chunks of earth from the ground, make them levitate, and shoot forward.
Metal Deviant: Elijah is a deviant in metal, someone who has mastered Earth Magic to a higher extent. While his background remains unknown, he discovered this ability when he unconsciously conjured a field of metal spikes around him when he broke through to the dark orange stage.
- Elijah can control metal to move an unconscious person from within the collapsed Dire Tombs to his position.
Next time we see him, he has regained his memories of his life as Nico and has gained multiple new deviants and abilities. Indicated by Nico's conversations with the other Scythes, it is clear that he is the weakest of the Scythes, as he is frequently disrespected by several other Scythes and is defeated by Arthur in one shot at the Victoriad.
- Black Spikes: They appear to be a unique metal deviant spell; these spikes are highly powerful and the magic he employs the most in battle; nevertheless, he needs shadows to cast them. This is related to the Vritra's decay mana arts. This is something that Uto can use as well.
- Soul Fire: Nico uses Soul Fire, a Vritra decay mana art, which manifests as black flame that does not emit heat but consumes whatever it comes into contact with, therefore it does not burn but destroys matter and energy. Soul Fire has been shown to deplete life energy, making it impossible for even a being as strong as a Lance to use mana for an extended period of time. It can also be used to treat non-fatal injuries to the user and others. Nico isn't nearly as skilled with Soul Fire as other Scythes, such as Cadell.
- Poison Gas: He has demonstrated a poison gas magic mana art very similar to Jagrette's poison gas, though he has only demonstrated it once.
- Flight: He is capable of flying effortlessly.
