The Bandit Leader was the leader of the Grand Mountains Bandit Group, who attacked the Twin Horns Party on their quest to Xyrus City. He is the primary antagonist of Season 1, as it was his actions that caused Arthur to live amongst the elves for 3 years, making him the catalyst for Arthur’s journey as a mage.

Appearance[]

Webcomic Appearance: The Bandit Leader was nearly as tall as Durden in height, with scruffy brown hair, bushy eyebrows, brown eyes, swollen lips, large teeth, and a noticeable scar across his torso. His attire seemed stereotypical of a bandit; being shirtless with a small pelt of fur worn around his collar, along with a necklace with a green gemstone and what appeared to be teeth. He also wore a spiked bracelet around his right wrist.

Personality[]

The Bandit leader was an absolute barbarian, taking eager satisfaction in pillaging, kidnapping, and murder. He even smiled sinisterly at the prospect of enslaving the women of the Twin Horns Party. He has no qualms with kidnapping and selling innocent people into slavery if it meant that he could satisfy his greed and hedonism with it. Based on his dialogue, the bandit leader is implied to have committed far worse crimes with his victims without a shred of remorse.

Season 1[]

While the Twin Horns Party were escorting the Leywin Family to Xyrus City through the Grand Mountains, they are ambushed by the Grand Mountain’s bandit group. The Bandit Leader orders his subordinates to kill the men and leave only the women and the child alive, but makes it clear to his men not to injure the women too bad, as “damaged goods will only sell for less”. A remark that disgusted the young Arthur. While the Twin Horns fought off the archers, the Bandit Leader effortlessly parried off the Twin Horns party’s archer Helen as he descended from the mountain. Despite their overwhelming numbers, the Twin Horns were capable of killing most of the bandits. Noticing that Reynolds was the strongest of the group, The Bandit Leader quickly attacked the retired adventurer and sent Reynolds crashing into the carriage, where his family was hiding.

As soon as he noticed that Reynolds was healed by his wife Alice, the Bandit Leader set his sights on her and ordered his remaining men on capturing the Leywin family. Reynolds and his party continued to fend off against the bandits, with Reynolds continuing his fight against the Bandit Leader. While the barbarian had Reynolds pinned down, he prepared to finish him off with his battle axe, before he was caught off guard by Helen who grabbed his arm, while Reynolds fought him off.

With his groups number now dwindled to only a handful, the bandit leader barked at his conjurer Damien to kill the mother and son duo. As the bandit conjurer launched a water cannon towards the family, Arthur managed to push his mother out of the way in time while he was hit by the spell and knocked off the mountainside, but successfully managed to take the conjurer with him over the cliff. The Bandit Leader did not fair better as Reynolds in his anger and grief, beat the barbarian to death with his bare hands.

Abilities & Skills[]

The Bandit Leader was notorious for his brutality and inhumanity. What he may have lacked in strategy and skill, he made up for with pure strength and power. His raw strength was great enough to push back Reynolds, a retired B-Rank Adventurer.

Augmenter: Despite being an augmenter, the Bandit Leader did not have any elemental affinity, most likely due to relying solely on mana strengthening.

Battle Axe: The Bandit Leader wielded a battle axe in combat that he could strengthen with his mana for greater attacks.

Quotes[]

  • “Pretty good catch, boys! Leave only the women and kid alive, and try not to leave scars. After all… damaged goods will only sell for less.”[1]

Notes & Trivia[]

  • The appearance of the Bandit Leader in the novel is drastically different from the webcomic. He was bald and missing teeth, while his face was covered in scars.
