Himes is the butler of Gideon.

Appearance

Himes is an old man with beady eyes that are usually closed and a wrinkled forehead complimented with his hollow cheeks. He has dark brown hair and a handlebar mustache. Himes wears a black suit accompanied by a tailcoat and a red bow tie.

Personality

As a butler, Himes has a poised mannerism. Despite his master’s eccentricities, he frequently has a calm demeanor, with closed eyes and a neutral smile. Only when startled does Himes open his eyes. Himes is obedient to Gideon’s orders, appearing stern to keep guests away, carrying baggage, and fetching materials for his master.

Synopsis

Season 3

During Vincent's and Arthur's visit to Gideon's place, Himes immediately tries to send them off, but upon realizing that the guest is Vincent, Himes allows them in. Himes leads Arthur and Vincent to his master's workspace, where upon entering Arthur was disgusted by the horrendous smell coming from the workspace, questioning what the smell was, to which an embarrassed Himes retorted that an easier question to answer would what isn't the smell. The three arrived in Gideon's laboratory where they are greeted by a grumpy Gideon who is upset at Himes for letting people in but calms down once he learns that one of the visitors is Vincent.

When Arthur showed Gideon a partial blueprint for a steam engine, Gideon has Himes fetch his prized possessions and artifacts to impress Arthur in giving the steamship blueprint. When none of the items caught Arthur's attention, Gideon resorted into giving Arthur the two phoenix wyrm pendants he crafted for the royal family of Sapin.

Season 5

Himes later accompanies Gideon in finding the wreckage of an Alacryan steamship with Emily, Tessia, and Varay and in the construction of the underground train.

Relationships

Gideon: Himes is Gideon's butler and assistant. While they value and respect each other, Himes finds working for Gideon to be rather difficult whenever he does not properly take care of himself or with how anti-social Gideon can be. Nevertheless Himes is obedient, willing to carry out his masters orders regardless of the circumstances.

Abilities & Skills

Himes displays superhuman reflex and agility as seen when he caught all of the artifacts and inventions Gideon is throwing at Arthur. Himes can also ride a stallion.
