Vera Warbridge, more commonly knows as just Lady Vera, is responsible for how Grey's, Cecilia's and Nico's lives on earth turned out.

She staged the fire at the orphanage where they lived, resulting in the death of headmaster Wilbeck because she attempted to hide the Legacy (i.e. Cecilia). It is also revealed she is the ringleader of the conspiracy to take control over the Legacy.

She initially appeared as a trusted mentor and sponsor to Grey, supporting him on his journey to become a king through the Kings Tournament after encountering him at Wittholm Academy. Grey did not suspect her of anything until Nico revealed some disturbing facts he had found out abut her. Grey initially doubted this, but his fears would be confirmed at the King's Tournament, when he recognizes one of Vera's associates as one of the assassins who killed Headmaster Wilbeck.

It was then revealed that Lady Vera and her co-conspirators had raised Cecilia in captivity, fostering her to become an excellent fighter while performing various cruel experiments on her. Vera had simply used Grey as yet another pawn to aquire the Legacy.

The King's Tournament was to be the culmination of her organization's plan, resulting in Cecilia becoming a puppet king to them and thus bringing the Legacy wholly under their control and uniting both Trayden and Etharia. She did not foresee the competition to end with Cecilia killing herself on Grey's blade, nor did she foresee Grey turning on her, purging her organization and her nation once he became king. It is never confirmed whether she is killed or not.

She is effectively the one responsible for how Arthur's past life turned out. She and the organisation behind her were responsible for the deaths of both Headmaster Willbeck and later Cecilia in their bid to secure the latter and her power as the Legacy. The former of course set Grey, Nico, and Cecilia down the paths they followed in their lives, and the latter was what marked the end of Grey and Nico's friendship as the latter declared Misplaced Retribution towards him. When Grey found out the truth, he proceeded to destroy her, her co-conspirators, and the nation behind them in his bid for vengeance. And the impact of her actions continues into Grey's reincarnation as Arthur.
