Nico Sever is one of Grey’s two best friends. He isn't much of a fighter, but he was good at inventing Ki items during his past life. During his childhood, Nico falls in love with Cecilia and eventually, the two of them get engaged. Nevertheless, at some point in the story, Nico witnesses how Grey kills Cecilia during the King's Crown Competition, which ultimately broke the three of them apart. Even after Nico died in his past life, he held onto his hatred even into his next life as Elijah Knight.

Nico, Cecilia, and Grey's situation resemble that of Obito, Rin, and Kakashi from the Naruto series in that Nico resents Grey for killing Cecilia even though it's what she wanted, similar to Obito's resentment for Kakashi after he killed Rin.
