Olfred Warend, or Code Balrog,[6] is one of the six Lances of Dicathen. He is one of the two Lances that represent the Kingdom of Darv.

Appearance[]

As the oldest of the lances, Olfred looks like an elderly man with a gruff voice. As a dwarf, Olfred is short with a heavy muscle build and bronze skin. His height is similar to when Arthur was an adventurer.

Personality[]

Olfred has a strict personality and is obedient to his superiors. When he first met Arthur, he was the only lance to make small conversations with him. Arthur regarded Olfred as friendly, but also guarded. He grew up without a family and lived his early life in the streets, making him wary of others. Despite his cautious character, Olfred's trust and his undying loyalty belongs to Rahdeas. In his free time, he likes to read a book and seems to enjoy retorting back at Mica for her childish antics. Even though, he does not share the same passion as Rahdeas in bettering the status of dwarves, Olfred feels strongly against the condescending views towards the dwarves and the presence of dwarven slaves in the Kingdom of Sapin. When angered, Olfred can be cruel, as shown when he created a molten tomb for Sebastian.

Background[]

Olfred grew up in the streets of the upper cavern of the Kingdom of Darv. At some point, Olfred met Rahdeas, who gave him food and a home. He taught Olfred how to read, write, and the basics of mana manipulation. Despite his cautious personality, Olfred grew to trust Rahdeas and saw himself as his son. He graduated as one of the top students in the Earthborn Institute and was selected to become one of the trainees to guard the royal family. Despite thinking that the Greysunders were greedy, Olfred served the royal family loyally. A few decades later, Olfred was chosen as a candidate for one of the lances positions representing the Kingdom of Darv. Olfred did not want to be a lance; however, Rahdeas urged him to become a lance after Rahdeas took home a human baby,Elijah Knight. Like most lances, Olfred took an oath to receive the artifact from his king. This artifact allowed Olfred to advance to the white core stage.

Relationships[]

Rahdeas: His foster father. Even though, Olfred only called Rahdeas father once in his life before his last mission, he sees himself as his son and cares deeply for Rahdeas, to the point, that his trust and his undying loyalty only belongs to him only, not the royal family that he served neither the Council.

Mica Earthborn: Even though they often bicker with each other, they are still friendly colleagues. In fact, before Olfred‘s demise at Aya Grephin‘s hands, he told her that Mica had nothing to with his betrayal and that she is innocent. He wouldn’t have said this, if he didn’t care for Mica.

Abilities & Skills[]

Quotes[]

  • (To Bairon) "And since when did you grow enough hair on your balls to think that you could challenge me?"[9]
  • (To Rahdeas) "I just want you to know that the reason I can do all of this without a doubt is because it is what you desire."[4]
  • (To Aya) "Just because our people would rather hone our magical abilities to create rather than to destroy, we are belittled and taken advantage of."[3]
  • (To Aya) “I know just by your gaze that my fate is sealed. And it would be unreasonable for me to ask you to have mercy on Lord Rahdeas, but please spare Mica. She had no part in this. I had to drug her in case she somehow found her way here.”[3]
