Synopsis[]

Season 4[]

Once Arthur had returned from his leave of absence due to his injury, Mayner was quick to quiz Arthur over his knowledge of spell formations, and was delighted by his correct answer. Continuing with the lesson, Mayner pitched a hypothetical scenario where mages could read each others minds, claiming it could very well bring about the most powerful mages ever known. With that in mind, Mayner continued his lesson where he explained the reason for conjurers and augmenters to chant their spells is due not in part to help manifest the spell, but rather to influence a mage's reflective instincts in which the spell is engraved in the castors memory. To give a rather humorous example, Mayner proposes a scenario in which he were to confess his feelings to a woman who does not reciprocate his advances. The confession would be considered the incantation while the rejection could be seen as the manifestation of the spell due to already knowing the response.

Season 5[]

Mayner was later present during the Attack on Xyrus Academy, where he bore witness to mana beasts being unleashed on school grounds, slaughtering hundreds or so of students. Mayner did all that he could to protect the school and save as many lives as possible, until a voice echoed throughout the campus, informing all students to make their way to the clock tower. Mayner was forced to comply as he and the remaining students and teachers bared witness to the leader of the cultists, the Alacryan Draneeve, while they were trapped by a barrier. The terrorist then tossed the head of the Disciplinarian Doradrea Oreguard at the feet of the hostages to help them understand their situation. Another Disciplinarian, Theodore Maxwell attempted to avenge Doradrea but was incinerated by Draneeve. To make matters worse, Lucas Wykes arrived on the scene, revealed to be a member of the cult, with a badly beaten and unconscious Tessia Eralith in his hands, dragging her by her hair.

Mayner could only watch as Draneeve continued to taunt everyone captured, as well as offer them a place in his Sovereign's new kingdom once he take's over Dicathen if they choose to side with them. To Mayner's surprise however, another student named Elijah Knight, managed to bypass the barrier entrapping them and nearly killed Lucas Wykes with his mysterious power, before he suddenly passed out. With the barrier separating them finally broken, Mayner joined Professor Grenir in fighting off the Radicals. Grenir ordered his colleagues to capture Draneeve as he prepared to escape through a portal, but was stopped by Lucas Wykes. Mayner and the professors fought against their treacherous student, but were unfortunately no match for the reborn half-elf, as he was left incapacitated by Lucas. Thankfully, Mayner managed to survive the terrorist attack as his student Arthur Leywin arrived on the scene and quickly dealt with the remaining radicals and mana beasts, especially Lucas Wykes, whom Arthur brutally mutilated as revenge.

Abilities & Skills[]

As a professor of Xyrus Academy, Mayner is considered a genius mage and educator. While his full capabilities as a mage are unknown, Mayner is considered very wise and dependable despite his rather humorous methods of teaching, as he will always leave his students not only well entertained, but also with a better understanding of casting spells without the need to rely on chanting and vocal casting. As professor of Spell Formations I, Mayner is in charge of the curriculum surrounding the basics of understanding spell formations and castings, from individual to group formations. Mayner's way of teaching is boisterous, but engaging, as regardless of how he teaches a topic, he will always leave his students enlightened.
