Sylvie Leywin is the daughter of Sylvia Indrath and Agrona Vritra, as well as the granddaughter of Kezess Indrath and Myre. She is the bond of Arthur Leywin, who was entrusted to him by her mother Sylvia.
After she completes her training with Kezess Indrath, she particpates in the war with Arthur until the war is lost. Later on in the story, she uses a powerful Aether Art to save Arthur from dying because of his excessive use of the 3rd phase of Sylvia's will in his battle against Nico and Cadell to save Tessia. Though she lost her physical body in the process, her soul is still intact and stored inside an egg. Arthur is working to revive her by filling the egg with Aether.
After Arthur succeeds in reviving her with the help of the pantheon Asura Aldir and the phoenix Asura Mordain, it is then revealed during her resurrection that she and Arthur were always bound by fate as she watched over Arthur during his first life from the moment he was born as Grey. During Arthur's reincarnation she caught his soul, preventing it from falling in Agrona's dominion while simultaneously making him a Leywin in the process and giving him a second chance in his new life in Dicathen.
Appearance[]
Newborn Form[]
Sylvie’s newborn form looks like a small black kitten but with scales. The sclera that is usually white in the human’s eyes is black. Her pupils are sharp slits that would typically make it look menacing, but with the body of something akin to a small feline animal, she looks adorable. The most noticeable difference between Sylvia and Sylvie is that Sylvie has two horns on its head. It curves outward around her head and then, sharpening into a point in the front.
Her head is shaped like a cat’s, but the snout is just a little bit more pointed, otherwise it’s the same as Sylvia. Sylvie’s tail looks exactly like Sylvia’s tail. It’s a reptilian tail that has two red spikes at the end. Along the spine, there are small red spikes that match the color of Sylvie’s eyes. She doesn’t have wings, but where the wings would be located are two small bumps in its stead. Her belly does not have scales, but it looks leathery.[1]
Draconic Form[]
Sylvie’s draconic form isn't as big as Sylvia’s, her mother, but it is still around 8 meters long. Her scales are obsidian black, and the two horns that she possesses were now sharper and even more menacing than before. She has wings very similar to Sylvia’s, with pitch-black-bladed feathers. The red spikes that she had on her back and tail weren’t there anymore, but the scales along the ridges of her spine protrudes, making her appear even fiercer. Sylvie’s limbs are strong, armored with spikes at the elbow and knees and with sharp claws jutting out of her paws. Sylvie’s once adorable face was now filled with elegance and poise, from her black sclera and yellow irises.[2]
White Form[]
Sylvie’s pitch-black scale is now white, and the horns that she had disappeared completely. The lizard-like tail that she possesses grows as the scales stick out. The feline-lizard form that she previously possessed is nowhere to be seen as Sylvie now looks exactly like a fox. Sylvie’s fur isn’t exactly fur but scales that have been narrowed down and elongated to give the form of a pelt. Her body is entirely snow-white except for her nose, the tip of her ears and tail, and her paws, which were the original black that she possessed.[3]
Human Form[]
Sylvie’s human form looks like a human girl who looks no older than eight or nine, with yellow eyes and long choppy hair that is the same pale wheat color as her draconic form’s underbelly. Sylvie’s messy hair looks like soft feathers rather than actual strands of hair. Her hair covers little of her face since her bangs barely cover half of her forehead. She is dressed in a simple black robe with two black horns jutting out from the side of her head.[4] After her resurrection, she has changed as her eye color is now gemlike yellow and her features are slightly older and sharper just like Arthur’s, making her look like a teenager.
Personality[]
Sylvie has a playful, snarky, and funny personality, not unlike that of Arthur's, whom she frequently refers to as "papa." Sylvie is extremely protective of her bond Arthur Leywin, whom she sees as a father figure, and goes to great lengths to ensure he is safe and happy. After her training with her grandfather, Kezess Indrath, she becomes more cautious and mature as she tries to keep Arthur in check from causing trouble. She also becomes sarcastic as she mocks him several times in the story. She can get angry as well at Arthur as he tends to go overboard sometimes. After a series of events, including sacrificing herself for Arthur, turning into an egg, watching over Arthur during his first life, snatching his soul away from Agrona's dominion and her subsequent resurrection in the aether realm inside the relictombs, she becomes more insightful and wiser than before. Moreover, during her meeting with the Lost Prince she announces her decision to stand up against her father Agrona Vritra and her grandfather Kezess Indrath affirming her loyalty to Arthur and Dicathen. She remains protective of Arthur as she uses her position as Kezess Indrath's grand daughter to order one of the hostile dragons to back off. She also shows an authoritative side when one of the dragons expresses her plea to bring her to Kezess Indrath, to which she releases her intent in order to express her displeasure and unwillingness regarding this matter.
Background[]
Sylvie is the daughter of Sylvia Indrath, and was entrusted to Arthur by Sylvia shortly before her death at the hands of Cadell. After hatching during Arthur's stay in Elenoir, she became his bond, forming an equals contract with him. Ever since then, she has accompanied Arthur almost everywhere where he goes, growing and developing alongside him. Later, after sacrificing her body it is revealed that she is the daughter of Agrona and during her resurrection it is revealed that she and Arthur were bonded by fate before they even met as she watched over Arthur during his first life. During his reincarnation, she diverted Agrona's spell away from Alacrya to Dicathen, giving Arthur a second chance in his second life away from Agrona's dominion.
Abilities & Skills[]
Aether Arts: Sylvie, being a dragon, is capable of using aether arts. Sylvie's area of expertise lies in vivum (the branch of aether concerning existence), and she is able to perform extraordinary feats of healing on herself and others using her abilities. She additionally possesses a vivum technique that allows her to sacrifice her physical body and offer it to another person, which she used to save Arthur from dying due to usage of Realmheart Phase 3. After her resurrection, her branch shifts toward aveum (the branch of aether concerning time). After entering the relictombs, she gains new insight regarding aveum, exceeding all the other members of the Indrath clan and becoming a key factor in helping Arthur to acquire the component of fate.
Static Void: After her revival and visit to the relictombs, her affinity of Aether shifts toward aveum as she gains the ability to stop time.
Pure Mana Manipulation: Sylvie possesses a highly potent ability to manipulate pure mana, being able to shape it into different shapes, projectiles, and barriers.
Flight: She is capable of flying using her wings.
Durability: Because of her scales in her dragon form, Sylvie is extremely resistant to both magical and physical attacks. Sylvie can still be injured and killed by sufficient amounts of force, as shown when she nearly died protecting Arthur from Uto.
