Taci was a member of the Thyestes Clan and a student of Kordri, and was one of Arthur's training partners during his stay in Epheotus. He was later sent by Kezess Indrath to exterminate the Dicathen survivors in the djinn sanctuary, who were furious with the asuras after they learnt of the cause of Elenoir's destruction, as a trial to prove that he was strong enough to inherit the World Eater technique from Aldir.
Appearance[]
Child[]
As a child, Taci stood at over five feet tall and looked to be about seven years old at most. He had a clean-shaven head and had two nut-brown eyes. He was skinny but not sickly so, with a nice, toned body that did not match his childish face.
Teenager[]
As a teenager, Taci was lean, clean-shaven, and was a head shorter than Windsom, with angry black eyes that reflected no light.
Transformation[]
Taci can transform, resulting in broad, black horns burst through the skin above his ears, extending out and forward until they cross in front of his eyes, then merging into a flat plate that covered the upper part of his face. Two more arms protrude from his sides, stretching inhumanly. His tanned skin hardens and feathered outward into golden scales. Four eyes, two on each side of his head appear.
Personality[]
Taci was arrogant and haughty, a trait that even Kordri chastised him for. He also considers it a waste of time for both himself and Kordri to train Arthur, a being of a lesser race. His pride resulted in him bearing a grudge for years to prove that he was better than Arthur, culminating in him taking extra time to gloat to Eleanor Leywin before stabbing her.
However, his arrogance would prove to be his undoing as he grossly underestimated Arthur's new powers, which lead to his defeat and eventual death. When he realised he was about to die, his facade of overbearing confidence cracked and he showed that he was just a boy - a terrified kid who was not ready to die. In his last moments, his wide, dead eyes were frozen in the last moment of surprise.
Background[]
Taci, at only seven years of age, displayed an unusual amount of talent and covered the basics of the Thyestes Clan combat arts in a quarter of the time it took the rest of his class. His mana distribution was also growing at a rate that even the clan elders could not help but admire. He was to be the star of the next generation of Thyestes. He also used diction and syntax that did not suit his boyish appearance or undeveloped, tenor voice. As a result of his accomplishments, he was haughty and arrogant, a trait that Kordri noted would hinder him.
He was assigned as Arthur's first training partner in the Aether Orb during Arthur's stay in Epheotus.[1] Much to his surprise, instead of placing restrictions on him, Kordri placed restrictions on Arthur. While he was initially superior to Arthur, after a year inside the Aether Orb, Taci proved to be insufficient as a training partner. Following which, Taci and three other Thyestes Clan children trained with Arthur for another three years.[2]
exterminate the Dicathen survivors in the djinn sanctuary, who were furious with the asuras after they learnt of the cause of Elenoir's destruction
In his teenage years, Taci was given a trial by Kezess Indrath to eradicate the Dicathens survivors who were hiding in the djinn sanctuary, who were furious with the asuras after they learnt of the cause of Elenoir's destruction and had just voted to refuse the use of the new artifacts provided to them by Kezess Indrath, to prove that he had the strength to learn the World Eater technique. He singlehandedly took on the four remaining Lances of Dicathen and came out unscathed, killing Aya Grephin, severely injuring Bairon Wykes, and maiming Mica Earthborn and Varay Aurae.[3] He also killed Rinia Darcassan and stabbed Eleanor Leywin before Arthur emerged from an aether portal from the Relictombs and stopped him from exterminating the Dicathen survivors.[4]
Taci initially fought Arthur to stalemate in the djinn sanctuary until Arthur tackled him into the aether portal. As asurans are not allowed to enter the Relictombs, the two of them entered the aether realm where after a brief fight, Arthur drove a blade through his neck and released his body to float in the void of the aether realm.[5]
Relationships[]
Asura[]
Aldir: Taci was proud of Aldir and wished to inherit the World Eater technique.[4]
Kordri: Taci both respected and feared his teacher.[1]
Others[]
Taci looked down on Arthur because he is of a lesser race and openly showed his displeasure at helping a lesser race train. However, his arrogance was a liability as while initially superior to Arthur, he proved to be an insufficient training partner after one year. Even with three other Thyestes children training with Arthur, none of them were unable to land a single solid hit on Arthur.[2]
Taci was bitter and bore a grudge against Arthur. They met again when Taci was sent to exterminate the Dicathen survivors in the djinn sanctuary. While he was impassive when maiming and killing the other Dicathen survivors, his need to prove he was better than Arthur showed when he spent time gloating before stabbing Eleanor Leywin with his spear. Arthur then arrived in the sanctuary via an aetheric portal and fought Taci to a stalemate before Arthur tackled him through the portal into the aether realm. With the environment heavily in Arthur's advantage, he killed Taci and released his body to float in the void of the aether realm.[5]
Abilities & Skills[]
As a member of the Thyestes Clan, Taci can use force-type mana arts.
Mirage Walk: Taci is trained in the Thyestes Clan's Secret Technique of Mirage Walk, which allows him to completely conceal his mana presence by balancing his output of mana from his core through his mana channels and his intake of mana from the atmosphere through his mana veins, rendering him effectively invisible to people and animals trying to sense him via mana fluctuations.[4]
Thyestes Clan Combat Arts: Taci uses swift, precise strikes, coupled with throws that take advantage of momentum and center of gravity. By relying on his senses to perceive where the opponent is distributing their weight and momentum, he matches his attack to take proper advantage of his opponent's strengths. This results in the use of little effort to dispel his opponent's attacks, allowing him to conserve his strength for his attacks.[1]
Asuran Spear: Taci uses a long blood-red spear that can break apart spells and absorb the mana to fuel his own strength, not mention it can disrupt mana if it pierces someone’s body .[3] The spear can dematerialize and reappear in his hand.[5]
Mana Disruption: By putting up one hand then twisting his wrist, Taci can disrupt the ambient mana in the area.[3]
Orb - Taci has the ability to construct an orb of pitch-black nothingness—a dismal sphere from which light cannot escape—and he can enter it to avoid attacks.
Transformation: Taci's transformation gives him horns on his head, two additional pair of arms from his sides, and a pair of eyes on each side of his head. His skin also hardens into golden scales that heals the wounds underneath it.[5]
Flight: Taci is capable of flight.[5]
Quotes[]
- (To Arthur) "My mother and father had told me how weak less beings were; it looks like it's true. I don't understand why we asuras were given the awful job of looking after you guys."
- (To Arthur) "If it weren't for the Vritra Clan and their distrusting half-breeds, my master wouldn't have to be stuck here teaching you, hoping a dog could learn something meant for asuras."
- To (Rinia) “I have been trained since I was a child, spending decades in the aether orb, to be my lord’s weapon. It is my purpose, seer.”
- To (Rinia) “I was warned about you, student of the lost prince. Now, though, I don’t understand why. Whatever stolen aether arts you have, you’ve burned yourself up with them. You are nothing but a leaf on the wind.”
- To (Arthur) “Whatever half-breed mongrel beast you’ve made of yourself, Arthur Leywin, know that it is my honor to unmake you.”
- To (Arthur) “You have nothing to do with my current mission. Although this has been an interesting encounter, and killing you will bring a certain redemption for the insult of being forced to train alongside you as a child, you have not stopped me from doing as my lord commanded.”
- To (Arthur) “For Lord Indrath, may he reign forever under the golden sun,”
