Tessia Eralith is a deuteragonist of The Beginning After The End. She is the sole daughter of Alduin Eralith and Merial Eralith, former king and queen of the elven kingdom of Elenoir, and heiress to the throne. Tessia is the childhood friend and love interest of Arthur Leywin, who rescued her from bandits and began training with him under her grandfather Virion Eralith. After becoming the apprentice of Cynthia Goodsky, Tessia was appointed as Student Council President of Xyrus Academy. Following the attack on Xyrus Academy, Tessia joined the war against Alacrya.
Later, the war against Alacrya is lost after her father's betrayal to save her. She goes to save her parents with both Arthur and Sylvie but it is too late as they were executed by the Alacrayans and their corpses were burned by Lyra Dreide as the goodwill of the Vritra. She encounters Madam Asterea and her team as they try to escape but are found by Elijah Knight who is working with the Vritra know and responsible for the massacre at Estintin bay alongside Cadell. She is saved by Arthur and Sylvie as they almost won against Elijah if not for Cadell's intervention.
Arthur sacrifices himself to save Tessia, and then Sylvie uses a powerful Aether Art to save Arthur. Both are presumed dead, much to Tessia's guilt and sadness as she blames herself. Despite everything that happened she did not give up and continued to fight until she is forced to sacrifice herself for Eleanor to save her from Nico. She is trapped inside her body and mind as Cecilia is reincarnated in her body.
She encounters Arthur in the Victoriad, an alacryan fighting tournament, as she is trapped inside in her body. Arthur tries to kill her but fails when she carresses his face but he is able to escape vowing to save her one day. Later, Seris rebells against Agrona and Cecilia, inside Tessia's body, fights her many times but fails to capture or kill Seris due to Seris's cunning mind. Cecilia falls in a trap set by Seris which makes Cecilia enters integrate stage paritally freeing Tessia. In the time Tessia was trapped she discovered that Arthur is a reincarnate but did not hold it against him. The Elderwood Guardian tries to kill Cecilia but fails as Tessia stops him from it as she is determined to fulfill her promise with Arthur.
By the end of Volume 11, Tessia was at last free, and regained control of her body, when Arthur, armed with the power of Fate removed the Legacy from the world. Tessia’s body could not handle the Integration Stage that Cecilia had reached, and as she was about to expire, Arthur used a mourning pearl to restore her core to the white stage.[7]
Appearance[]
As a child, Tessia had long, gunmetal gray hair that extends just past her shoulders which shines silver under the sunlight. She has a pair of round, gleaming teal eyes set in a small pale face. She had a small perky nose and her facial features are what Arthur describes as "carefully molded gems that looked surreal, almost phantasmal work of art."[8] As an elf from the elven kingdom of Elenoir, Tessia had distinct pointy ears, the elven trademark. She had two braids tied together on the back of her head and along with two braids that hung from behind her ears. She opts to wear white-washed skirts or dresses along with slip-on sandals as casual wear. During outings, Tessia is seen wearing floral dresses paired with a small sun hat along with outerwear sandals.[9] As she grew older, Tessia's hairstyle remained the same but her face grew slimmer and her eyes became narrower. Her ears are pierced and she wears a pair of gold studs. She became much more feminine and is described as a beauty by others.[10]
Personality[]
Due to being the sole daughter of the royal family of the Kingdom of Elenoir, Tessia grew up with no close friends, making it extremely stressful for her as a child. She started developing trust issues since she had gotten hurt numerous times by others who befriended her for personal gains. Growing up in a lonely and stressful environment made it rare for Tessia to smile. While she was cheerful and happy spending time with her caretakers, parents, and grandfather, to the public she was cold and distant to those around her. However, though Tessia was wary and shy at first, after meeting Arthur, she became cheerful and began to smile and laugh much more than before. As she slowly started warming up to Arthur, she has shown more smiles and laughter after meeting him than she ever had growing up.[11] As a child, Tessia is unaware of public opinions on her actions, therefore she acts in ways that would be deemed inappropriate if she were older. Having Arthur as Tessia's first friend ever, she holds immense jealousy over those who grow close to Arthur. After awakening as an elf, Tessia became much more confident and bold due to her training with Virion.[12] After her immature actions in the war, which at one point caused her army to be decimated in Elenoir, then later indirectly causing Arthur and Sylvie's apparent death, she matures considerbly as she sacrifices herself to Nico in exchange for Ellie's life. Afterwards, we get to know that she is trapped in Cecilia's mind. It was also during that time that she learned about Arthur's past life. As the story progresses, Tessia is partially released from Cecilia’s control when Cecilia reaches the integrate stage in her body. After having to experience the torture of being trapped in someone’s mind, she becomes calmer and wiser as she waits for the right moment to strike against Agrona to regain full control of her body and fulfill her promise with Arthur.
Background[]
Tessia grew up as the only princess of the entire Kingdom of Elenoir. Due to being the sole heir, she grew up alone and distant because of repeated occasions where others would use her as a way of personal gains.[11] However, when Tessia was five, she had a fight with her parents, which led to her running away to cool off her mind. Her parents had not run after her, since they knew where her usual hiding spot was, but while Tessia was running, she ran into human slave traders.[13] After being kidnapped by the slave traders, Tessia was rescued by Arthur deep within the Elshire Forest. Though it would take several days, Arthur decided to accompany Tessia back to her home.[8] During this trip, Tessia grew very attached to Arthur and convinced him to stay after he became Virion's first disciple.[13] Over the next three years, Tessia spent almost every day with Arthur. After awakening at the early age of nine, she began training her conjuring skills with a tutor and fighting skills with Virion.[12] Though she was distraught when she learned of Arthur's departure date, Arthur reassured her that they would see each other again.[14] With tears welling up in her eyes, Tessia embraced Arthur with a hug and bid him goodbye as Arthur left to return to his family.
