Wren Kain IV is an Asura of the Kain Clan[1]. Wren became the third mentor to Arthur Leywin after he was assigned to train him for the upcoming war against the Vritra Clan and Alacrya.
Later on, he defects with Aldir after Aldir kills several dragons sent by Kezess against Aldir. Agreeing with Aldir that Kezess has been leading the Asura astray and he finds refugee in the Hearth with Mordain, the Asclepuis clan and other Asuras who oppose Agrona Vritra and Kezess Indrath.
He meets with Arthur in the Hearth where he examines Regis and Sylvie's egg. After Sylvie's reserruction he departs with Arthur, Chul, Regis and Sylvie to Darv where he meets with Gideon to help empowering Dicathen Army against Agrona Vritra and Kezess Indrath.
Appearance[]
Wren Kain IV is seen as a shabby individual with tired half-closed eyes and has greasy black hair which spreads his face like a wet seaweed. Arthur remarks his physique to be that of an individual suffering from malnutrition because of his hollow cheeks and chin. He wears a purple oversized coat that hangs off his body, over a beige tank top and pants.
Personality[]
Arthur remarked his personality to be similar to that of Gideon, being eccentric, unorthodox, and obsessed with creating artifacts and technology and never focusing on the past. He can be vain and arrogant when it comes to his abilities, as he was said to be one of if not the most talented craftsmen in all of Epheotus. As opposed to Gideon, Wren is much more serious and a perfectionist than passionate when it comes to his line of work, crafting weapons for their wielders to the smallest detail. Like many Asuran’s, Gideon holds all non-asuran races in low regard, even someone like Arthur who is meant to be the savior of the realm. Gideon can be considered wise and tactful as he warned Arthur the consequences of not paying attention to his surroundings as well as distracting himself in the heat of battle. However, Wren is not heartless as he was against Kezess Indrath’s way of leading the Asura’s and sided with Aldir in his rebellion.
Abilities & Skills[]
Contrary to his lanky constitution, Wren is still a formidable Asura, as his endurance is said to be just as strong as any Titan. What he may lack in strength however, he more than makes up for in his ability to forge and construct weaponry and artifacts that make him renowned as one of, if not the single greatest inventor of Epheotus, as well as the Asuras. From mere observation, Wren is capable of studying a terrain as well as make precise calculations.
Earth Elemental: As a Titan, Wren has a mastery over the attribute of Earth. As the Titans are known to specialize in creation-type mana arts, Wren is shown to use his forging ability to construct Golems as well as weaponry. Wren has also been shown to conjure everyday household items like chairs. While Wren is capable of materializing anything made from earth, he is unable to replicate other elemental properties such as water, indicating that the creation must be of an earth-type element or at the very least a solid nature.
- Stone Golem: Wren's signature form of combat. Wren is able to create a sentient creature from the earth to fight on his behalf. Wren has shown masterful control over golems, as Wren can also masterfully give shape and fine structures of living things to his Golems making it very difficult to identify them as Golem, such as when he made stone golems of Tessia and a Basilisk (Vritra) to surprise Arthur Leywin using his ability and craftsmanship. According to Wren, the amount of Golems he can produce depends on the complexity of the Golem's power and structure, but for simple combat Golems, he is capable of making thousands at a time.
- Forging: While his Golems are his signature form of fighting, what Wren is most famously known for is his capabilities in weapon forging. Wren can masterfully make powerful weapons that are perfect for the wielder's form of combat and body. With his earth magic, Wren is capable of creating swords in the blink of an eye.
- Dawn's Ballad: Dawn's Ballad is a sword Wren created. Dawn's Ballad was originally meant to be a one size fits all blade that could adjust it's shape and weight to accommodate it's wielder. To use the blade however, the wielder must posses the power of an Asura to unsheathe the sword from it's hilt. Wren however, regarded the sword as a failure compared to the Asura's standards, and tossed the blade into the Beast Glades during one of his visits.
- Regis: Regis is a weapon created from Acclorite, given to Arthur during his training.
Quotes[]
- (To Windsom) "So this is him? He's the pup that's supposed to be the hero, leading Dicathen to victory against the Vritra-raised armies and their disgusting little Lessurans?"
- (To Windsom and Arthur Leywin) "The supposed savior of the lesser beings has quite the mouth."
- (To Arthur Leywin) "As much as a compliment your words may be, comparing my weapons-no matter how poor in quality-to the primitive tools used by you lesser races only insults me."
- (To Arthur Leywin) "I don't forge swords, brat. I create them."
- (To Cecilia) "Bravado. That's what happens when you give a child endless power. You spend far too much of your energy convincing yourself you really are as great as people keep telling you, despite the fact that you feel like an imposter in your own skin. Well, except that you're an imposter in someone else's skin, but nevermind that."[2]
